ABQ RIDE Assisting with Stranded Rail Runner Passengers

expired

Aug. 16, 2012

ABQ RIDE is sending 16 buses to two Rail Runner stations this evening to help passengers stranded because of washed-out tracks north of Santo Domingo Pueblo.  Heavy rains washed out the tracks at approximately 5:30 p.m., according to an Albuquerque Journal report.

Because of an emergency agreement between ABQ RIDE and Rio Metro, which administers the Rail Runner, ABQ RIDE is responding by sending the buses to the Highway 599 Rail Runner station and to the Highway 550 Rail Runner station to take stranded passengers back to their appropriate stations.   Reports say as many as 600 to 800 passengers may have been stranded when the washed-out tracks prevented north and southbound trains from completing their runs.

ABQ RIDE will continue to transport stranded passengers tonight for as long as necessary.
