ABQ RIDE Announces 2009 "Rock Star Shuttle" Schedule
First day of ticket sales sky rocket!
ALBUQUERQUE – Mayor Martin Chávez and ABQ RIDE Director Greg Payne are pleased to announce the 2009 "Rock Star Shuttle" schedule for select summer concerts at the Journal Pavilion. ABQ RIDE is teaming up with Clear Channel Radio to offer VIP shuttle service to four concerts this year. "Rock Star Shuttle" tickets are now available for
- Kenny Chesney on April 23rd
- Nine Inch Nails on May 14th
- No Doubt on May 28th
- Def Leppard on August 28th
"Not only does this shuttle service provide concertgoers a convenient and stress-free ride, it also eases traffic congestion by reducing the number of vehicles on the road," said Mayor Chávez.
This year, some shuttle passengers will ride in style to the concerts in a newly designed "Rock Star Shuttle" bus. They will also have the opportunity to ride along with some of their favorite Clear Channel Radio personalities who will be broadcasting live from the bus.
"The Rock Star Shuttle was created to relieve traffic issues getting in and out of the Journal Pavilion," said Director Payne. "But it's also a really fun event. Many people have made it their transportation choice when attending concerts, and this year we are expecting our biggest crowd ever."
Tickets are fifteen dollars for adults and eight dollars for children twelve and under. Buses depart from two Park & Ride locations 90 minutes prior to the start of each concert. Rock Star Shuttle passengers can park for free at the Macaroni Grill Park & Ride near Winrock Mall or at the Southwest Mesa Park & Ride on the corner of Central and Unser. Buses leave 20-minutes after the end of the concert to return to the Park & Ride lots.
