Celebrate America's Love for Trains and the Railroad that Built Albuquerque and New Mexico
Celebrate America's love for trains on Saturday, May 11, 2013 with National Train Day. This great event will feature free live entertainment, local food vendors, interactive and educational exhibits, activities, raffles and elaborate model train displays. In addition to tours of the New Mexico Rail Runner Express, and tours of rail cars and locomotives from Burlington Northern Santa Fe trains, Amtrak is sending a special train to Albuquerque – their 40th Anniversary Exhibit train - to look at rail’s past, present, and future. Amtrak is also sending their Chuggington Kids Depot with train-themed kids’ activities. The Santa Fe Children’s Museum will also have a Children’s Interactive Train Display that allows kids to be the “Engineer at the Switchyard”.
