Celebrate Albuquerque, You Did It!

The 2008 Clean Air Challenge ended March 31, 2008. The campaign has been a complete success with 3,607 citizens making the pledge to use alternative modes of transportation. A big thank you to everyone who participated. A special thank you to the 43 businesses who helped educate the community of the importance of public transportation and clean air.

Why The Clean Air Challenge?

Climatic conditions in Albuquerque make pollution an even bigger problem in the winter months, and vehicle emissions are the number one source of pollutants. Help us keep our air safe and clean by participating in the ABQ RIDE Clean Air Challenge. Continue to use the bus, walk, bike, train or carpool.

The City of Albuquerque and ABQ RIDE continues to do it's part!

  • This past year ABQ RIDE made the largest single bus purchase in the history of Albuquerque. These 56 new diesel electric hybrid buses turned our entire fleet into a 100% alternative fuel transit system.
  • With the Rapid Ride Bus services you will enjoy a quicker and more enjoyable commute, that is safe for our environment.
  • The D-Ride provides FREE downtown transportation services that reduces traffic while minimizing air pollutants in the downtown area.
  • ABQ RIDE has added additional bike racks to it's buses making it easy for inter modal transportation.
  • During summer months the Trolley system is in full force offering another alternative mode of transportation.

How can you help?

Everyone can make a difference! We are asking all Albuquerque metropolitan area commuters to continue to use alternative modes of transportation.

For more information about how you can make a difference in the pursuit of clean air call 243-RIDE (7433) or email Serena Pearson to find out how you can help in the 2009 Clean Air Challenge.

Thank you to our fine sponsors for their support in the 2008 Clean Air Challenge.
