ABQ RIDE/ Lamar Advertising Transit Shelter Program
- No City resources will be used to construct the shelters

- The shelter project is a part of an exclusive transit advertising contract between ABQ RIDE and Lamar Advertising
- Completion of the initial construction phase of 25 shelters is expected by June of this year
- The project is the result of a long-term collaborative effort spearheaded by Mayor, Martin Chavez and ABQ RIDE Director of Transit, Greg Payne
- 25 units installed this year at an approximate overall capital expenditure cost of $500,000.00; Lamar Advertising is providing all capital outlay for the construction of the shelters

- The visionary goal for Lamar and ABQ RIDE is to have 100 shelters constructed by May 31, 2012
- Each of the shelters will feature Solar power and lighting components manufactured by Sol Systems based in Florida
- The shelters are manufactured by Tolar Manufacturing Inc. in California and then shipped to Albuquerque where Lamar staff and its local contractor, Andy Lee, conduct final assembly and installation.
- This project involves and relies on the cooperation of the dedicated staff of ABQ Ride, the City of Albuquerque, and Lamar Transit Advertising.

With the safety and comfort of our ridership as a priority ABQ RIDE is continually expanding our ridership amenity programs. This is an example of another cooperative public/private program that was initiated and created without the use of taxpayer dollars.
