A public gathering of poets, authors and artists to honor our fallen and to heal our city.
Traditionally, hard-working people have gathered in a shaded spot ("Laresolana") to talk over events. In view of the many violent deaths in Albuquerque in recent years --through police actions, criminal attacks and other causes, it seems appropriate for some of our city's many spoken and written word artists to gather in tribute to those who have fallen, and in hope to contribute to the necessary healing of our wounded city. A wide ranging representative group of Albuquerque authors will read and perform their original works relevant to these linked themes of honor and healing.
AUTHOR /ARTISTS PERFORMING: Adan Baca, former Albuquerque Poet Laureate Hakim Bellamy, current Albuquerque Poet Laureate Jessica Helen Lopez, Brooke van Blomberg, Manuel Gonzalez (who will also serve as Master of Ceremonies), Larry Goodell, Nicole Gramlisch (actor and author of the novel Carla's Rivett), Alisa Valdes (author of the best selling novel The Dirty Girls Social Club), Zachary Kluckman, Bill Nevins, Tony Santiago, Carlos Contreras, Jazz Cuffee, songwriter Keith Sanchez, Mary Oishi, Danny Solis (via video appearance), hip hop poet Mike 360, and others.
