Join the Rock and Rhythm Foundation for an afternoon of live music at the South Broadway Cultural Center on Saturday, March 12, 2:00 – 5:00 pm (doors open at 1:30). Featuring Baracutanga with Jackie Zamora and including an incredible line-up of local talent: Chris Dracup, Artha Meadors, James Whiton, Wendy Beach, the Rock and Rhythm Youth Orchestra and much more. Enjoy food from the Chocolate Dude and House of Bread and enter our benefit drawings to help Rock and Rhythm.
The New Mexico based, award-winning sensation, Baracutanga, provides a unique blend of the many danceable rhythms of South America. The seven-piece band – representing four different countries – prides itself on arranging traditional South American rhythms in interesting ways, such as huayño and cumbia with Middle-Eastern derbuka or the Afro-Cuban bata and Afro-Peruvian festejo blended with Andean zampoñas, among countless other rhythmic combinations. Their exciting and iconic mix leaves dancing crowds wanting more.
All proceeds support the Foundation’s scholarship and instrument funds. The Rock and Rhythm Foundation is a 501c3 charity dedicated to making music education and performance accessible to everyone. We believe everyone can play music, and everyone should have the chance to do so.
