Information about recycling bags.
*Note: We will be giving out coupons in August, 2013 which will be redeemable through December 1, 2013. After that, the City will no longer provide plastic bags for recycling due to the new Blue Cart Recycle Program.
Coupons for a free roll of 30 clear plastic recycling bags are mailed to Albuquerque residents in water/ refuse bills every August. The coupon was included as an insert in your water/refuse bill. Let us know if you fail to receive a coupon with your August water bill.
Coupons are redeemable at the Solid Waste Management Department's Administrative Offices at 4600 Edith NE, at Albuquerque Senior Centers and at a number of retail outlets throughout the city. Recycling bags can also be purchased year-round for $5.25 per roll of 30 bags at several of these and other locations (listed below).
Black plastic refuse (trash) bags in boxes of 50 can be purchased for $14.00 at two City of Albuquerque locations. See below for a complete list of locations and a link for the Senior Centers for both refuse and recycling bags. If you plan to pick up bags at a location other than the Solid Waste Management Department office or DFM Treasury, we recommend telephoning the vendor first to ensure a current stock of bags.
