Early Head Start Expansion

EHS2Project Description:

The goal of this project is to expand the City of Albuquerque La Madrugada Early Head Start (LMEHS) center-based program to address the current needs of Albuquerque families.

This grant will allow us to serve an additional 48 children and 5 additional pregnant women in collaboration with the APS School on Wheels, the RFK Charter School and the non-profit childcare center, Michael's Place, which serves children with disabilities.

Currently LMEHS provides children 0-3 years of age a comprehensive child development program both in a home based or a center based option at 5 centers (4 at Albuquerque Public Schools and 1 at a community center).  The program is targeted to serve 208 children and 20 pregnant women.

In Fiscal Year 2009, the following received services: 330 children, 24 pregnant teens, and 18 families with special needs.
