Albuquerque transportation projects go through an elaborate metropolitan planning process that involves the surrounding communities in a collaborative planning effort through the Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG). The MRCOG adopts a regional plan, called the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) and a related Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).
