30th Anniversary Proclamation
On October 6th, Albuquerque's City Council released a proclamation regarding the Public Art Program's 30th anniversary.

WHEREAS, the City of Albuquerque’s Public Art Program, one of the oldest in the country began in 1978, with the passage of the Art in Municipal Places Ordinance; and
WHEREAS, this bold initiative set aside 1% of City construction funds derived from the general obligation bond program and certain revenue bonds for the purchase or commission of works or art; and
WHEREAS, the City’s Public Arts Program collection contains nearly 600 works of art placed throughout the City ; and
WHEREAS, the Albuquerque Arts Board, comprised of members of the Community appointed by the Council and the Mayor work tirelessly to assure that Albuquerque has the highest quality of public art for the enjoyment of the citizens of Albuquerque; and
WHEREAS, 2008 marks the thirtieth anniversary of the City of Albuquerque Public Art Program.
BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE COUNCIL, THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE, HEREBY RECOGNIZES THE THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY OF THE
CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE PUBLIC ART PROGRAM
AND CONGRATULATES AND THANKS PRESENT AND PAST MEMBERS OF THE ALBUQUERQUE ARTS BOARD FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS IN CREATING A PUBLIC ART PROGRAM OF WHICH ALL CITIZENS OF ALBUQUERQUE CAN BE PROUD.
