LOCAL TREND:
Many residents have participated in the water rebate program. Since 1995, residents have received 11 million dollars in rebates. The toilet rebate program continues to be a success hitting 9,717 rebates in 2008. The diversion rate for curbside collection has steadily increased in since 2007.
NATIONAL/REGIONAL COMPARISON:
Albuquerque has been successful in the water rebate program and has proven to be a leader in water conservation among communities. Communities that have pay-as-you-throw and multi-cart collection systems demonstrate positive conservation of natural resources.
CITIZEN PERCEPTION:
Like all desired conditions, Albuquerque citizens believe this condition is important. On a 7-point scale, residents in 2011 ranked this condition 22nd in important and 23rd in progress out of 57 totaled conditions surveyed.
