Local Trend LOCAL TREND:

Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, the Federal Bureau of Land Management, and the State of New Mexico all actively preserve, protect, and restore undeveloped lands to provide open space for existing and future generations. Albuquerque Open Space acres have increased modestly over the last 5 years. There has been remarkable progress in the planting of new trees and shrubs in the Bosque.

National Comparison NATIONAL/REGIONAL COMPARISON:

Among peer Southwest communities, Albuquerque is the leader. Albuquerque Open Space Division acres are similar to Austin and El Paso, but our percernt of parks and opens pace acreage to total city land area is 24%, compared to 15% and 18%, respectively.

Citizen Perception CITIZEN PERCEPTION:

In 2011, citizens recognized this Desired Community Condition to be very important. It is ranked third among all conditions surveyed. In addition, citizens see the progress that has been made, ranking it second among all conditions.
