LOCAL TREND:
Shares of construction and manufacturing employment have significantly been affected over the last 5 years in Albuquerque. Government jobs comprise over 20% of the available employment opportunities in the Albuquerque Metropolitan Statistical Area. Eight of ten employment sectors have seen a decrease in the last 5 years. Education and health services have seen the largest increase.
NATIONAL/REGIONAL COMPARISON:
For the most part, employment sector share for Albuquerque and the U.S. are similar. Albuquerque has maintained a larger share of government, professional and business services, and education and health services jobs.
CITIZEN PERCEPTION:
In 2011, Albuquerque citizens considered this desired condition as 37th in importance. Progress was ranked as 32nd among 57 surveyed conditions.
