Yahoo Apologizes for Error and Says it will Correct Inaccurate Information on Website
Yahoo recently wrote a letter of apology to the City of Albuquerque and the Albuquerque Police Department for a story posted on the front page of its website alleging that an APD Officer tased a 10-year-old boy.
Albuquerque Police and the City of Albuquerque received numerous inquiries and complaints over the past 24 hours about the information posted on Yahoo’s website that was inaccurate.
After phone calls and emails from both APD and the Albuquerque Mayor’s Office, Yahoo responded with an apology for inaccurately identifying APD as the law enforcement agency involved in the incident and also posting an image of the APD patch in association with the story on their webpage.
APD had no involvement whatsoever and this incident occurred in a Southern New Mexico community, hundreds of miles outside of Albuquerque.
The errors were corrected as promised, but not before upwards of 11,000 people saw and commented on the original story, blaming APD for the incident.
