As part of the Albuquerque Police Department Volunteer Program, Chaplain Bruckner has served faithfully since 2004 and has displayed a great sense of leadership and dedication.
Chaplain Don Bruckner

This was evident in his response to a fatal DWI accident at Interstate 25 and Montgomery Boulevard where he exhibited a great amount of compassion. Upon arrival, he provided comfort to a young mother and her two children, ages 2 and 5, whose vehicle had been struck by a drunk driver. The impact caused the occupants of the drunk driver's vehicle to die. After praying with the mother and her children, Chaplain Bruckner blessed the two young men who had died and then checked on the welfare of the investigating officers.
In addition, Chaplain Bruckner has responded to calls at all hours of the day to meet the needs of citizens' requesting a Catholic Chaplain. His heart of compassion is very much appreciated by all that know him. One grateful family wrote, "You helped us much more than you will ever know. You are very good at what you do and are doing God's work and I am sure He is very proud of you."
Versatile in his ability to serve, he also serves as a Deacon of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, as well as, the APD Southwest Area Command Chaplain Team Coordinator and an Albuquerque Aviation Police Chaplain. In his role as the aviation chaplain he consistently provides support to those in need at the Albuquerque Sunport.
Due to Chaplain Bruckner's unselfish desire to serve, the police department and community have benefited greatly.
