More Than 100 Officers Hit the Streets Looking for Wanted Individuals
By Officer Tasia Martinez
Today APD launched a massive warrant round up in the Albuquerque Metropolitan Area. The goal is to arrest 100 wanted fugitives in 48 hours.
16 teams of APD officers and detectives will be assisted by the Unites States Secret Service, the US Marshalls Office and New Mexico Probation and Parole in a four-day effort to arrest fugitives wanted for both felony and misdemeanor warrants.
APD hopes that those wanted people will turn themselves in and take care of their warrants before officers have to arrest them.
“What we want to do with this warrant round-up is send a clear message that the fugitives need to comply with the criminal justice system and the terms imposed by the courts,” said APD Deputy Chief Macario Page.
Police will be working on a list of 500 outstanding warrants that were all active as of April 23, 2013. The warrants range from misdemeanor to felony crimes, including homicide charges.
Rio Rancho Police have launched a similar warrant round up operation simultaneously within their jurisdiction.
APD asks that anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of any wanted fugitives please contact Crime Stoppers at (505) 843-STOP. Live phone banks will be in service throughout the 4-day operation.
