Serial Burglar Arrested Again

19-year-old Suspected in More Than Eight Burglaries

Sky Shainwald, 19, was arrested on Wednesday for a felony burglary warrant.  Following his arrest, Shainwald confessed to committing 8 additional burglaries. Burglary Detectives are now working hard to see that Shainwald is held accountable for the numerous residential burglaries he has committed.

APD Burglary Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Shainwald and the Repeat Offender Project Unit (ROP) located and arrested Shainwald on Wednesday morning in Southeast Albuquerque.  Only 19 years old, this is the second time that Shainwald has been arrested by the APD ROP Unit in less than a two months.

The ROP team booked Shainwald in early April on charges including residential burglary, receiving stolen property valued at more than $2500, and conspiracy.  Shainwald was able to bond out of jail two days later.

Shainwald has now confessed to the 8 additional burglaries.  He is currently being held at the at the Metropolitan Detention Center on a $2,500 cash only bond.

APD Burglary detectives obtained Shainwald's confession to the string of burglaries and will continue to work this active investigation.
