Operation Matthew Man

APD Officers Visit the Children's Hospital

Members of the Albuquerque Police Department and McGruff the Crime Dog visited children at the Carrie Tingley Children's hospital yesterday.  Each child received coloring books, crayons and a hand-made blanket, donated by caring citizens.

Operation Matthew Man was inspired by APD Officer David Ritchie's 4-year-old nephew Matthew, AKA "Matthew Man", who has Stage IV Neuroblastoma. During Matthew's stay at the children's hospital, he sent his uncle, Officer Ritchie, to go and visit his sick friends. In continuing with Matthew's request, the children were visited by APD personnel.  APD personnel have been conduciting periodic visits to the Children's Hospital and will continue to conduct these "Matthew Man" operations.
