Ashley Mickles

By Officer Tasia Martinez

APD Foothills Officers arrested 21-year-old Ashley Mickles early Saturday morning after they caught her in the act of assaulting her boyfriend with a knife.

About 3 a.m. Saturday, a neighbor called 911 and reported  there was a loud and violent-sounding argument coming from a nearby apartment.  One officer arrived just in time to see Mickles chasing her boyfriend up a flight of stairs yielding a knife over her head and yelling.  As Mickles charged forward and quickly closed distance between she and the victim, the officer prepared to stop her by all means necessary to save the man’s life.  The officer gave told Mickles to drop the knife and was able to get the  woman to comply without the use of any force.  Mickles dropped the knife at her feet and was taken into custody.

Mickles and her boyfriend were both intoxicated and non-cooperative with police following the dramatic incident.  Mickles was booked at the metropolitan detention center for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for her arrest.  She is currently held on two cash bonds at the Metropolitan Detention Center.
