APD Takes Down Currency Counterfeiting and Narcotics Trafficking Plant

The Albuquerque Police Department Organized Crime Unit arrested Phillip Pacheco, 27, on Monday following an extensive undercover investigation.  The investigation was conducted with the assistance of the APD Central Narcotics Team, Meth Lab Team, The Bosque Farms Police Department and the United States Secret Service (USSS).

Pacheco is incarcerated at the Metropolitan Detention Center on a no bond hold and is facing charges including forgery by counterfeiting U.S. currency, felon in possession of a firearm, and trafficking narcotics.

The undercover investigation culminated in when a search warrant was completed at Pacheco’s residence.  Agents and Detectives seized the following items that were located in the execution of that warrant:

A multiple printer U.S. currency counterfeiting plant

Approximately $10,000 in counterfeit U.S. currency in various stages of the process, prior to distribution within the City of Albuquerque

A Mack 10 firearm with the serial number filed off and the gun was altered to fire as a  fully automatic weapon

A sawed off 12 gauge Shotgun

A 9 mm Handgun

9 grams of Methamphetamine

Approximately 3 ounces of high-grade Marijuana

An extensive supply of narcotics-related trafficking paraphernalia

A 2012 Chevy Silverado

The investigation is still ongoing and the USSS as well as Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) will continue their investigation with pending federal charges. Additional search warrants are also pending
