APD Officers Clean up Northeast Albuquerque

More than 400 Enforcement Actions Taken to Improve Quality of Life

By Officer Tasia Martinez

A squad of Northeast Area Command Officers made 48 graffiti referrals, wrote 2 drinking in public citations, 2 littering citations, 11 criminal trespass notices, 11 panhandling citations, 13 noise enforcement citations and 397 moving violations all as a part of “Operation Clean Street”.  The operation was conducted during the month of August to address quality of life, property crimes and traffic violations in Northeast Albuquerque.

In addition to enforcement actions, each officer addressed problem properties within their own patrol sectors.  Officers referred residential and commercial buildings to the Solid Waste Management Department for trash collection, large item disposal and graffiti removal.

Officers made referrals to other specialized units as needed, including the APD Gang Unit, Narcotics Unit, and the Criminal Nuisance and Abatement Unit.  The APD Horse Mounted Unit also assisted in the operation in the ditch bank and open space areas.

The Northeast Area Command will continue to conduct monthly operations to find new and creative ways to keep the Northeast Heights area beautiful and decrease criminal activity in their area command.
