Meet The City Forester

Mayor Martin J. Chávez and Alfredo R. Santistevan, Director of Environmental Health, would like to introduce a new addition to the City. We have hired Nick Kuhn as our first City Forester to promote, plan, and manage trees as another benefit of our city. Trees are our greatest tools for improving air quality, protecting our soil and water resources, while saving you money in energy reduction and increasing your property value.

If you would like to learn more about trees and their selection, maintenance, and benefits we invite you to use one of several opportunities. Those attending the Master Gardener class will hear about trees at your home from Mr. Kuhn on March 6. He will be a speaker on Saturday March 10 at the upcoming Xeriscape Conference. You may also contact him for speaking at your neighborhood association meeting for area specific help in protecting one of our city’s valuable resources. Arbor Day is coming up so plant a tree! Nick Kuhn can be reached at City Hall in the Environmental Health Department at 505-768-2706.
