SECTOR DEVELOPMENT PLAN DRAFT CONTENTS:

The East Gateway Sector Development Plan will include an analysis of area issues and assets, a community vision and goals, a market study, and a strategy to integrate land use, transportation and economic development. Planning strategies may include proposals to improve economic viability, land use regulations and site design standards for properties along selected area corridors, a transportation plan, public right-of-way design proposals that support driving, bicycling, and walking, and public project proposals.

PLANNING TIMELINE and EVENTS:

A first draft of the East Gateway Sector Development Plan is ready for public review.

If the plan requires only minimal changes, a final draft should be ready for review by the public and the Environmental Planning Commission in mid-autumn 2009.

MAJOR PLANNING EVENTS TO-DATE:

1. August 2007 Project Scoping meetings, interviews, and focus groups at Singing Arrow Community Center and Manzano Mesa Multi-Generational Center

2. May 2008 Planning Kick-off Meeting at Manzano Mesa Multi-Generational Center

3. August 2008 three-day Planning Workshop at Four Hills Country Club

4. November 2008 Workshop Report Review held at East Gate Church

5. Winter and Spring 2009 meetings with neighborhoods and other groups.

The Planning Team:

The planning team was formed to address community issues identified during a series of meetings held with over 160 people from East Gateway on August 7-8, 2007.

The team consists of Paula Donahue (City of Albuquerque Planning Department and three consultant firms: Architectural Research Consultants Incorporated (ARC), Glatting Jackson Kercher Anglin, and Robert Charles Lesser and Company (RCLCO).
