The South Yale Sector Development Plan will be heard by the Environmental Planning Commission (EPC) on Thursday, July 10, 2008 in the hearing room of Plaza del Sol, 600 Second St. NW, basement level.

Project Description:

The Planning Department will work to create a Sector Development Plan for the South Yale area in collaboration with neighborhood representatives and our planning consultants.

Strata Design L.L.C. has been chosen to assist the Planning Department in this process. The plan will address traffic, zoning and land use, utilities and environmental conditions.

Plan Boundary:
University Boulevard (west), St. Cyr (north), Girard, Vail, Ross and Columbia (east) and Gibson Boulevard (south).

Public Meetings and Status as of June 2008:
The South Yale Sector Development Plan kick-off meeting was held on August 13, 2007 at the Heights Community Center, 823 Buena Vista Drive. Approximately 40 participants attended the meeting and provided information regarding their thoughts about the neighborhood. Participants provided positive and negative aspects regarding the following issues: Character, Land Use, Zoning, Housing, Transportation, Utilities, Infrastructure, Parks, Community Facilities, UNM, APS and Economic Development.

The first public meeting was held on August 13, 2007.

A Design Workshop was held on September 22, 2007.

A third meeting was held November 7, 2007 at the Heights Community Center to discuss the zoning and land use recommendations from the design workshop.
