Pit Bull Ambassador Program

Albuquerque Animal Welfare reminds you to always spay or neuter your pets.

What is the Ambassador Program?

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department staff and volunteers designed a training program specifically for shelter's Pit Bulls. Our goal is to increase the adoption rate of all Pit Bulls by making these dogs "ambassadors" of good behavior and to highlight the trainability of the breed. The Pit Bulls chosen for the program are trained basic skills such as to walk well on a lead, 'sit', 'down', 'wait' and 'settle'. The criteria for an Ambassador is that the dog be a Pit Bull or Pit mix and must be dog friendly.

Mission Statement

The Pit Bull Ambassador Program is committed to ;lacing Albuquerque shelter Pits Bulls into permanent homes as family companion dogs through education, advocacy, outreach, and training.

Ambassadors Trainers Needed

We have several dogs waiting to participate in the Ambassador Program, but we need your help. The number of "ambassadors" is limited by the number of "trainers" available.
