Animal Welfare Department is offering FREE Microchipping Around the Fourth of July Holiday.

Free Microchipping to residents of Albuquerque – No appointment needed

The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department is offering to microchip dogs and cats for FREE around the Fourth of July holiday. The offer is good to all residents of Albuquerque. The free service can be obtained on the following days: Tuesday, July 2, Wednesday, July 3 and Friday, July 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Westside shelter and Eastside shelter. No appointment needed.

Animal Welfare is encouraging pet owners to keep their animals safe during the Fourth of July holiday by making sure they are microchipped and wearing secure collars with current license and identification tags.

A pet microchip is of no use if it contains the wrong information because the pet owner has changed an address or telephone number. A dog going missing is a hugely distressing experience for its owner. It is essential to ensure that the details linked to your pet’s microchip are up to date so that your pet can be successfully identified and to improve its chances of getting home and being reunited with you. Animal Welfare shelters provide all year round free service to check on your pet’s microchip.
