Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week
Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department invites the public to take a moment this week on April 13-19, during National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week, to recognize the role Animal Control Officers play within the community.
National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week recognizes hard-working members of our Field Division who answer calls for assistance, capture roaming and potentially dangerous animals, rescue animals in danger, investigate reports of animal abuse, educate pet owners about responsible care and mediate disputes between neighbors regarding pets.
In 2013, Animal Control personnel have responded to 35,825 calls, rescues and other activities for the community. In addition to field work, our personnel are devoted to animal welfare programs such as, spay and neuter awareness, promote pet wellness and educate responsible pet ownership.
Albuquerque residents are encouraged to keep an eye out for Animal Control personnel in the community this week and to say "thank you" for a job well done!
