Tear Down Kennel D Pet Adoption Event
The sheltered dogs are asking Animal Welfare Department to tear down eastside kennel D or they will huff and puff and blow it down. Now is the time to help the animals in our city shelters. We are in need for the community’s support to adopt out our dogs before we begin construction on a new kennel building.
The Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department is hosting a Tear Down Kennel D pet adoption event to find loving homes for our sheltered pets. The adoption fee will be only $5. Animal Welfare will launch the event on Friday, August 26, through Sunday, August 28, at the Eastside, Westside and Lucky Paws Animal Shelters. People will be able to meet the pets and talk to an adoption counselor to get assistance in finding the pet that will fit their family.
During the event, Animal Welfare will reduce the fee that is typically charged for adopting pets, while keeping all other adoption policies in place, including thorough match-making procedures and background checks.
The tear down and rebuild of kennel D is expected to begin in September and the completion of the project is expected by the end of May. The funding for kennel D comes from General Obligation Bonds.
