Chip, Chip Hooray
The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department is offering to microchip dogs and cats for FREE before the Fourth of July holiday. The offer is good to all residents of Albuquerque. We are launching the Chip, Chip Hooray campaign Monday, June 27 through Saturday, July 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Westside shelter and Eastside shelter. No appointment needed.
Due to fireworks, pets can become scared and panic and often escape from their normal enclosures. They can also lose their sense of direction and end up far from home.
Last year 80 percent of dogs and cats arriving at our shelters were never reunited with their families mostly because they lacked proper identification, such as a microchip.
Animal Welfare is encouraging pet owners to keep their animals safe during the Fourth of July holiday by making sure they are microchipped and wearing secure collars with current license and identification tags.
Summer is here and it’s time to cross off one more item on your ‘to do’ list and that’s to make sure all your pets are protected with microchips.
