Welcome to the City of Albuquerque's Animal Services Division, where we endeavor to protect animals from abuse, and people from animal bites and disease. We have a staff of concerned and caring individuals in the Field, Kennel, and Office willing to assist you however possible.

If you own a pet, responsible pet ownership is something expected by your friends and neighbors to ensure both their peace of mind, and the overall living conditions of our community. The law has certain requirements for every dog, cat, or ferret:

• Vaccinations - rabies required annually
  
• Licenses - renewable yearly
  available at Animal Services or your veterinarian
  
• Leash Law - leash required whenever animal is off the owner's property
  leash may be no longer than 8 feet in length
  
• Spay/Neuter - all animals adopted or reclaimed from ASD must be sterilized.
  
• Identification - all animals adopted or reclaimed from ASD must be microchipped
  

We invite you to visit and take a tour of the shelter complex. Animal Services Division Officers, kennel staff, and our division manager may be scheduled to appear at club, organization, public events or neighborhood association meetings. If your group would like to schedule a speaker for a particular topic or problem in the neighborhood, please call (505) 764-1126.

We are currently recruiting volunteers to assist in many areas. In this way you can help us as we work towards adopting every animal possible into a new and loving permanent home.
