What You Need to Know During Your Visit to the Monument
Please be aware that DUE to the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN and construction at various facilities, the only sites in the Monument open to visitors (until further notice) are Boca Negra Canyon and Piedras Marcadas, both maintained by the City of Albuquerque Open Space Division.
Please note that parking for Boca Negra and Piedras Marcadas is extremely limited, so please carpool.

Facility hours and addresses:
- Boca Negra: 8am-5pm, Monday-Sunday. Address: Boca Negra Canyon Trails, Atrisco Drive Northwest, 87120
- Piedras Marcadas: Dawn to Dusk, seven days a week. Address: 9421 Jill Patricia NW, 87114
Directions to BOCA NEGRA Canyon Parking and Trailhead from the Petroglyph Visitor Center:
- Take the first left onto Unser Blvd NW and go for about 1.7 miles.
- Turn right onto Atrisco Dr NW. Boca Negra Canyon in on the right.
Directions to PIEDRAS MARCADAS Canyon Parking and Trailhead from the Petroglyph Visitor Center:
- Take the first left onto Unser Blvd NW.
- Turn right onto Montano Rd NW, then
- turn left onto Taylor Ranch Rd NW. Continue onto Golf Course Rd NW for about 2.1 miles.
- Turn left onto Jill Patricia St NW.
- Look for the parking area.

The Open Space Visitor Center features exhibits interpreting the amazing natural and cultural resources that the City of Albuquerque Open Space Division protects. It also features an art gallery, wetlands, access to hiking trails in the Rio Grande Valley State Park, agricultural fields that draw a variety of wildlife and stunning views of the Sandia Mountains.

Directions from Boca Negra Canyon to the Open Space Visitor Center:
- Head southeast on Atrisco Dr NW toward Mojave St.
- Turn left onto Unser Blvd.
- Turn left onto Montano Rd.
- Turn left onto Coors Blvd. and then
- turn right onto Bosque Meadows Rd NW.
- Continue straight to the Visitor Center Parking area.
Directions from the Open Space Visitor Center to Piedras Marcadas:
- Head north on Bosque Meadows Rd NW toward Coors Blvd NW.
- Take the first right onto Coors Blvd NW.
- Turn left toward Paseo Del Norte Blvd NE.
- Turn right to merge onto Paseo Del Norte Blvd.
- Turn right onto Golf Course Rd NW. Turn left onto Jill Patricia St NW and
- look for the parking area.
