Take a step back in time – learn about those who lived in this region 800 years ago, the Europeans who traveled through, and how their interactions shaped New Mexico history.
WHERE: Open Space Visitor Center | 6500 Coors Blvd NW at the end of Bosque Meadows Rd. between Montaño and Paseo del Norte.

As part of the 10th Anniversary of the Open Space Visitor Center, City archaeologist Dr. Matt Schmader will give a tour of the Piedras Marcadas pueblo, near the Visitor Center. Take a step back in time – learn about those who lived in this region 800 years ago, the Europeans who traveled through, and how their interactions shaped history. Schmader will relay the most current interpretations of the artifacts both cultures left behind. Schmader will discuss the archaeological context of the Coronado expedition and lead a tour of the unexcavated Piedras Marcadas pueblo.

About the Open Space Visitor Center: The purpose of the Open Space Visitor Center is to convey and deepen the relationship between Albuquerque's Open Space program and the integrated community by providing an exceptional environment to enjoy, experience, and learn about land, wildlife, and cultural heritage. The Open Space Visitor Center is located at 6500 Coors Blvd. NW between Montaño Rd. and Paseo del Norte at the end of Bosque Meadows Rd.
