National Public Lands Day Geocaching Event
Hey all, it's that time again - time to celebrate National Public Lands Day, enjoy the company of fellow cachers, and give back to our environment. Open Space will be holding a CITO event on September 28th.
Snacks will be provided at the start of the event through the generosity of local businesses and the Open Space Alliance. After the event, we will have a raffle for some great door prizes.
You'll need to bring water, gloves, hat/sunscreen, and a positive attitude. Check back, and please feel free to leave your feedback, either here or at the thread I've created on the NMGeocaching.com forum. Thanks!
Established geocachers may register at geocaching.com
Geocaching replaces the parchment map with a Global Positioning Systems (GPS) unit to engage in a modern day treasure hunt. A GPS unit is a hand-held device that communicates with satellites to identify its unique place on earth.
A geocacher places a cache at a particular spot, posts the coordinates on a website and the game begins! Caches contain a logbook and often they have small gifts. But if you take something from the cache, you have to leave something in the cache.
The Geocaching Special Event coincides with National Public Lands Day, the largest hands-on volunteer day that seeks to improve and enhance all of America’s public lands.
