Abstract Nature: Photography Workshop with Chris Meyer
Nature provides endless source material to create abstract art. This means a photographer can user their camera as a virtual brush to create compelling images beyond typical portraits and landscapes. Chris Meyer – our artist on display in the Open Space Visitor Center Gallery will share his approach to looking for art in nature including extracting more visual information from your shots. This workshop will include both a lecture and optional field photography to put his ideas to work. The lecture portion will include:
* Reviewing the basic artistic design principles of shapes, tension, energy, weight, and balance
* Setting up your camera to capture more shadows, highlights, and deeper focus
* Using Adobe Camera Raw for advanced darkroom features
After the presentation, you are welcome to join Chris on a short hike and shoot your images as he shares how he sees artistic patterns, shapes, and colors in otherwise ordinary rocks and trees. Take these images home and put into practice what you learned in lecture portion of the workshop!
