Park Management Division, NM Forestry, NM Think Trees, and APS Celebrates Arbor Day

Park Management Crews and APS students plant trees in two local parks

Friday, March 8, 2013, was Arbor Day in New Mexico and to celebrate the occasion, the City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Park Management Division partnered with Albuquerque Public Schools, New Mexico State Urban Forestry, and New Mexico Think Trees to plant trees at two local parks near schools. The first planting was at Academy Hills Park with students from Hubert H. Humphrey Elementary in attendance. The second planting was at Valley Neighborhood Park with students from Griegos Elementary in attendance. Former Park Management Superintendent Jeff Hart and current Park Management staff were on hand for the planting and an Arbor Day presentation for those in attendance. Also, Smokey Bear was there to help spread the tree love!

Thanks to all who participated!
