Notice: New Mexico National Guard Training Exercise at Indian School Trailhead August 6-8

The New Mexico National Guard (NMNG) will conduct an emergency response and disaster training exercise August 3-10. This training exercise will allow NMNG and its partners to test and evaluate response capabilities needed in case of a disasters such as earthquakes, wildfires and floods. Some of these capabilities include communications, search and rescue, food and water distribution, and others. Portions of the exercise will also simulate emergencies such as hazardous material response, search and rescue, and other events that could come with a potential disaster.

August 6-8, NMNG will conduct a portion of this training at Indian School Trailhead. This will include partners in City police and fire departments, a helicopter MEDEVAC landing, and a simulated search and rescue operation in the Foothills. The Indian School area will be open to visitors but parking will be limited at the trailhead, so visitors should plan to park at Menaul or Piedra Lisa trailheads instead.
