Neighborhood Thanks Park Planning Manager

The Andalucia community gave David Flores a custom framed photo of the park complete with everyone’s signature.

David Flores, the Division Manager for Strategic Planning and Design, views himself as a “behind-the-scenes” kind of guy. But for many neighborhood associations, communities, and concerned citizens, David Flores is the “front-line” person, answering all of their questions about their park project, from what kind of trees will provide the shade to what kinds of playground equipment may be installed. Flores sees this as simply doing his job, but it’s these simple actions that make him stand out.

The neighborhood surrounding Andalucia Park decided to honor Flores southwestern style:  a good’ol fashion barbeque.  The Andalucia community also gave him a custom framed photo of the park complete with everyone’s signature.

The Director of Constituent Services, Alan Armijo (representing Mayor Richard J. Berry) and Albuquerque City Council President Ken Sanchez were also in attendance.

“I’m overwhelmed with all of this kindness,” Flores said, “But the Parks Construction crew made this park happen and the park maintenance crews are the boots-on-the-ground that keep this park looking so great.”

Flores finished his speech by saying he builds parks for our future and pointed out his grandson who was already playing on the new playground.
