City Parks and Recreation Department Receives Patriotic Employer Award
The City of Albuquerque Parks and Recreation Department has received a New Mexico Patriotic Employer Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office.
This award is given to employers who have supported the National Guard or Reserve by hiring an unemployed or underemployed member. The goal is to reduce the high unemployment rate of the service members.
Recreation Service Division Manager, Alex Kiska, accepted the award on the department’s behalf, along with Hugh Hulse, The Esperanza Community Bike Shop Bicycle Educator.
“After having served in the military and then returning to civilian life, it’s really clear that having the support of an employer such as the City of Albuquerque, and the support of family can greatly ease the transition from military to working civilian,” said Hulse.
