15th Annual DIA DEL RIO 2009

Join us for a Rio Grande Celebration!

Join us for a variety of conservation projects that nurture and protect the bosque and river, including trail work, revegetation, and trash clean up. There will be activities appropriate for all ages.

Enjoy educational tables from area organizations working to protect and enhance the Rio Grande and bosque.

riverWHEN: Saturday, October 17th from 8:30 AM - 1:00 PM.  Please arrive promptly at 8:30am to sign in and enjoy snacks provided our other generous sponsors. At the end of the event, make sure to stick around for a fabulous prize drawing!

Sign in will take place at the communal shelter just south of the main parking area.  Projects will be located in and just beyond the Nature Center grounds. 

 

 

BRING: Gloves, sun protection, plenty of water. Free snacks will be provided during morning sign in.

REGISTER: Pre-registration is recommended.

Register starting September 15th at REI at 1550 Mercantile Ave NE or call 247-1191. The first 80 people to pre-register will receive a free t-shirt the day of the event, courtesy of REI!

This year’s Dia del Rio event includes:

  • Educational tables from organizations working to protect the Rio Grande and bosque.
  • A variety of conservation activities.
  • There will be activities for all ages, from trail work to trash pickup. 

Are you a boater?  Bring your canoe, kayak or raft and help clean trash out of the river.  Call 452-5200 to RSVP.

(If you bring your boat, you must follow New Mexico State Parks boating regulations. Call 1-888-NMPARKS for full regulations.) 

  1. Do you live near the bosque?  Or do you have a favorite area near the river?  Organize your own clean up the day of the event.  Open Space will provide trash bags and haul off the collected trash. Call 452-5216 or email kswanson@cabq.gov to sign up your group for your own cleanup.
