CALENDAR OF EVENTS 2009
Open Space is host to endless opportunities for outdoor enjoyment. Hiking and biking aren’t even the half of it! Identifying, photographing and journaling wildlife and plants; exploring historical and ancient ruins; finding a unique view using a map and compass or GPS; and participating in activities that contribute to the preservation of this invaluable and shared resource.
All programs appropriate for the whole family. Call 452-5200 for more ways you can participate in Open Space events.

Explore a giant corn maze, a hay bale labyrinth and other attractions. 2009's theme is "Amazing Monarchs: Butterflies Take Wing!" The maze will depict the caterpillar and adult stages of the Monarch butterfly.

In the summer and fall of 2009 a group of New Mexico arts organizations will join together to present LAND/ART, exploring relationships of land, art and community through exhibitions, site-specific art works, a speakers series and culminating in a book. |

Join biologist, naturalist and birder Elsa Bumstead for a guided walk into the riverside forest and discover this world away from the city. Prepare for a 1.5 hour easy walk and dress for the weather. After the hike, warm up with hot coffee and a snack provided by Sunflower Markets! |

Walter Wollert takes the technical nature of digital photography very serious. This is evident in his desire to “immerse the viewer into these local images,” and to “draw the viewers into feeling they were there.” He has taken care to show not only the beauty of the geometric rock image, but also to render the surrounding scene with care. |
