and residents of historic and charming Nob Hill to discuss
several issues of importance, from public safety to economic
development. Ideas and suggestions from the day's talks

J. Chavez visited and publicly thanked Rowlands Nurseries
for their initiative and partnership in promoting water
conservation. With their newly unveiled WaterWise program,
customers can learn about xeric landscaping, purchase
water saving devices - including a sprinkler system monitored
by satellite technology - and obtain information about
City of Albuquerque rebates and conservation goals proposed
by Mayor Chavez. For more information, please call Rowlands

30, 2003 Group: On Friday, May 30, Mayor Martin
J. Chavez was joined in the field by the City of Albuquerque's
duly praised Graffiti Removal Team to report on the division's
success and to officially reveal the team's newly designed
logo. As of this date, the City has successfully prosecuted
and collected restitution from many graffiti vandals
and has been nationally recognized as a best practice
among cities for addressing community nuisances, such
as graffiti. Mayor Chavez then participated in the painting
of the "tagged" sites near Central and Old
Coors. The mayor urges Albuquerque citizens to help out
this summer in his effort to rid our community of graffiti
by reporting it. If you see graffiti in your neighborhood,
please call 768-4735. A crew will be dispatched within
24hours. |

by the United States Conference of Mayor's Best Practice
Program for his Community Enforcement and Abatement Team.
The closure of the Royal Motel today is one more success
story of this program. |

21, 2003 Group: First meeting of the Mayor's
Youth Advisory Council.
The YAC is an appointed young citizen board created, by ordinance, to
provide input to the Mayor and city officials regarding policies that
affect Albuquerque's youth. It is a great opportunity for young people
to get involved, learn about city government and promote youth issues.
It is currently comprised of 12 high school students with room for more.

students from around Albuquerque in the National Dance
Institute's production of "The Magic Man". The performance
was inspired by the life of NDI's founder and took place
in Popejoy Hall. Here, the Mayor can be seen on stage
with Louie Giannini along with dozens of incredible and
energized young dancers |

Date: May 20, 2003 Group: In District Court the Mayor
signed a pre-trial interview agreement along with
local attorneys, Judge Murdoch, District Attorney
Kari Brandenberg and Police Chief Gil Gallegos.
This agreement will help curb police overtime stemming
from the interview process on cases that go to
trial. |
