Revamped Series to return at The Cell Theater in Albuquerque
The Albuquerque Music Office is partnering with The New Mexico Music Commission to relaunch the Albuquerque Songwriter Series as the New Mexico Songwriter Series. The date will be announced shortly.
The series will continue to showcase songwriters and explore songcraft, particularly as it relates to the music business and careers, but will feature one songwriter each session instead of three. It will be hosted by songwriter Rob Martinez Jr. and will include an interview segment with the guest songwriter, and open Q & A with the audience and conclude with a live perfomance by the evening's guest. The series will alsio be video taped.
“The series will continue to be about the art of song craft, and how songwrting and other areas such as publishing relate to the music business." says Mr. Frouge. "My hope is the new format - which as in the past will include all genres - will allow the New Mexico songwriting community the opportunity to display their wares to other songwriters, perhaps learn from one another and, help nourish and advance that part of the music business. It will also give the community at large the chance to get to know these songwriters and the breadth of talent in and around Albuquerque and New Mexico."
The New Mexico Songwriter Series is presented by the City of Albuquerque Music Office, part of the Mayor's Economic Development Department in collaboration with the New Mexico Music Commission. Please note: the Songwriter Series is not an open mic session. or more information on the series and the possibility of participation please contact Tom Frouge, Music Liaison, City of Albuquerque Economic Development Department, Mayor’s Office at 505-771-3166 or tfrouge@cabq.gov

The non-profit organization PEACE TALKS RADIO, produced by Albuquerque's own Paul Ingles, is, like a lot of non-profits, struggling a bit in the post-recession climate. In response they have had to get creative on fund-raising ideas and have come up with a great raffle. The Grand Prize? A multi-celebrity, multiple-autographed guitar by the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Lyle Lovett, Taj Mahal and others! Help continue a radio program and website devoted to non-partisan talk about peace and maybe win this or one of the other cool prizes.
