City Offering Special Pick Up of Sand and Silt
For Affected Property Owners at Base of Escarpment
Albuquerque—The Department of Municipal Development (DMD) will offer a special one time pick up of sand and silt for properties at the base of the escarpment affected by the historic rainfall. Click here to view a map of the properties.
"The Department of Municipal Development has been clearing roadways since this weekend,“ Director Michael Riordan said. “Helping our neighbors is the next logical step."
If properties were infiltrated with sand and silt in their back yards, the City will make arrangements to come by and remove the material from the front driveway after the citizen signs a waiver. Click here to download the waiver. If the property owner is not home, they can leave the signed waiver in an obvious place along with the material.
Citizens are responsible to get the sand and silt into their driveways. Once completed, they can call 311 to schedule the pick-up. The properties most affected by the runoff are along the escarpment from Vulcan and Unser northeast to Painted Pony Drive and Painted Pony Trail.
Crews will be making pick-ups between now and next Friday, September 27th.
