Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry announces parking will be free in Downtown along Central and Gold avenues, Nob Hill, and Old Town for the 2010 holiday season.

Free Parking is available at the following locations:

  • Downtown - Along West Central and Gold avenues, between 1st and 7th streets.
  • Nob Hill - East Central, from Carlisle to Girard.
  • Old Town - Surface lot at Rio Grande and West Central.

Economic Development

"This policy is an example of economic development for our heaviest retail areas that usually have metered parking," Mayor Berry said. "By offering free parking, we're encouraging people to think about doing their holiday shopping at locally owned businesses in Old Town, Downtown, and Nob Hill."

City staff worked very closely with the business associations in these areas to let this yearly tradition continue. Enforcement of metered parking will resume Monday, Dec. 27.

"Each parking space still has a time limit of two hours," Acting Director of Municipal Development Michael Riordan said. "This is to ensure turn over so more people can access the great shopping opportunities in Old Town, Downtown, and Nob Hill."
