In a memorial service for Fallen Officers Richard Smith, Michael King, Ben Lopez, David Fisher, and Garrett Iverson, Mayor Chavez and Chief Schultz thanked the victim's families for attending and noted that Albuquerque has lost 5 great citizens who will always be remembered.

Chief Schultz told the hundred people on hand that those slain this date a year ago will always be remembered. He mentioned that he has visited the site over 50 times and every time he visits there are a couple people who stop by to remember with him. He was asked by all of the victims' families that the memorial service be held at the site where the officers were murdered. They also requested the service be short and in the morning so as many officers from the community could attend.

In the crowd were many Albuquerque Police Officers and Albuquerque Firefighters paying their respect to two men who gave their lives so unselfishly.

Bagpipes blared, all men and women of uniform stood to attention as the families went to their seats and exited the memorial. All those who attended were invited to go to lunch and talk about those who passed away.

They will never be forgotten!
