Today Mayor Martin Chavez and Albuquerque Ride director Greg Payne announced a new bus service called “Downtown Get Around” or “D-ride.” The first day of service will be Friday, July 14, which coincides with the opening of the Rail Runner Express. Leaving www.cabq.gov, click for disclaimer

“D-ride” will be free of charge for everyone. The route begins at Alvarado Transportation Center and will loop through Downtown. A few of the stops on the loop are:

  • Courthouses
  • City Hall
  • Civic Plaza
  • Galeria
  • Convention Center
  • Federal Building
  • PNM

There will be three D-ride buses that will make the loop every 7 minutes, making it the most frequent bus service. The hours for the route are 6:30 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Each bus has a full graphic bus wrap that showcases Downtown landmarks, so it is very easy to spot. With more people using the Albuquerque bus services, it is time to provide a route structure that will be efficient for more people.
