Twenty-ninth Annual Charity Gala Donation Beneficiaries Announced

Four local nonprofits to benefit from this year’s Gala

ALBUQUERQUE — Plans for the 2015 Charity Gala are underway. Mayor Richard J. Berry and First Lady Maria Berry will host the 29th annual charity gala scheduled for April 25, 2015, at the Albuquerque Convention Center. This special night is dedicated to raising funds for selected non-profits that are engaged in inspiring work throughout our community. Together, Mayor Berry and First Lady Maria Berry will honor the charitable tradition in Albuquerque and celebrate those who provide countless hours of selfless service to make our community stronger.

“Through the generosity of our corporate sponsors and hundreds of people in Albuquerque, the last five Charity Galas, Maria and I have hosted have made it possible for us to donate over $900,000 back to our community,” said Mayor Berry. “We are confident that the 2015 Gala will be another huge success and we will be able to provide much needed funding to worthwhile organizations.”

The 2015 charities that were selected are Acción New Mexico, Albuquerque Community Foundation: The Bright Futures Fund, Homework Diner: ABC Community School Partnership, and PB&J Family Services: Fathers Building Futures. Acción New Mexico increases access to business credit, makes loans, and provides training, which enables entrepreneurs to realize their dreams and be catalysts for positive social and economic change. The Albuquerque Community Foundation Bright Futures Fund is a donor-advised fund that allows the advisors to either help a charity today or to help the permanent needs of tomorrow; it’s a gift that works now and forever. PB&J- Fathers Building Futures project is a social enterprise that trains and employs fathers, who are all formerly incarcerated and turning their lives around. Finally, Homework Diner, in partnership with the ABC Community Schools, addresses student success by helping community schools develop strong family engagement by facilitating a hot meal and academic support as parents work with their children to do their homework.

“We’re ever so grateful to our community for their continued generosity and support of this event and our worthy, local charities,” said Gala Chairwoman and First Lady Maria Berry. “We look forward to the opportunity to work with these charities as we all strive to improve the circumstances and opportunities for many in our community.”

Ticket prices are $150 per person, $1,500 for a table of ten, and sponsorship packages start at $3,000. For more information regarding the event and ticket sales, please visit
