Mayor Richard J. Berry announces that this local builder has been awarded the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) Research Center Green Partner Award
Albuquerque- This is the first award of its kind given by the NAHB Research Center. This award represents the largest number of Certified Gold and Silver "Green" single-family homes built in a single year, nation-wide. Out of 258 nationally certified Gold and Silver "Green Build" single-family homes, Paul Allen Homes built 100 Gold Certified homes and 30 Silver Certified homes in Albuquerque’s Saltillo Community located at McMahon & Unser.
According to the NAHB Research Center, “"he National Green Building Standard provides practices for the design, construction and certification of green residential buildings, renovations and land development. It also sets requirements and environmental performance levels for green buildings and developments."
Mayor Berry commented, "This award, illustrates the smart way to be green. Paul Allen Homes, is validation that quality, energy efficient, green building can be constructed affordably, right here in Albuquerque. In an industry climate where home building stats continue to rebound, Albuquerque’s Single-family "Green Builds" continue thrive. In FY 2009 Albuquerque completed 84 Residential "Green Builds"; in FY 2010, 147 Residential "Green Builds"; in FY 2011, 205 Residential “Green Builds”. FY 2012 looks very promising, with 287 Residential "Green Build" submittals to date.
