Mayor Richard J. Berry’s Office Recognizes This Week’s ESA Recipients
July 27, 2012
ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Alan Gutowski and Celina Martinez of the Risk Management Division are the most recent recipients of the Mayor’s Efficiency, Stewardship and Accountability award. The division is receiving this award for saving the City of Albuquerque $90,000 by revamping the City of Albuquerque’s excess insurance policy.
The City of Albuquerque was faced with the potential of seeing the premium of its excess insurance policy raise by 28% so the Risk Management Division decided that they should look at other available options.
The team realized that they could take advantage of an option that changed the terms of the policy that would lower the premium by 18%. Knowing they needed to move quickly on the process, Mr. Gutowski and Mrs. Martinez were able to handle several detailed data requests in order to get approval of the state regulators. The amazing thing is that gathering all this data typically takes several weeks and the team was able to get it done in three days.
The City of Albuquerque and the Risk Management Division received good news that their change in policy had been accepted by regulators and this new premium would save the City of Albuquerque $90,000 on the coming year’s premium.
